Project: Annapolis, Maryland- Main Street Reconstruction
Client: State of Maryland
Funding Source: Maryland State Highway Administration

Scope of Work

This project included the complete reconstruction from building face to building face. It also included the relocation of power poles and lines that visually dominated this historic space. To respect the tradition of this state capital main street, the entire surface of the roadway and adjacent pedestrian walkways were paved with brick. All curbs were constructed with granite block.

Unique Circumstances

Due to the tight nature of this historic space, every square foot of space needed to be carefully considered. The utility poles and wires were relocated to the backs of the properties which required major coordination with the business owners. Research of historic lighting in the area was required to respect the historic nature and receive approval from the historic district commission. Building vaults protruded under the sidewalks and roadway that needed special consideration.
